Junior Developer - 13 month placement 2025/26

Junior developers will join a structured on-boarding program that will introduce them to the technologies that we use such as React, the Twilio stack, and the Zing way of working. Junior Developers will work full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break each day.

Over the first six months you will work as a collaborative team from our offices in Paddington, London, with increasing exposure to our customers. After this period there may be an opportunity for some remote working.

Throughout your placement you will receive continued support and mentoring from your Placement Mentor and Line Manager as well as the wider team.

We have offered permanent roles to placements each year after they complete their studies and are confident that a Zing placement can be a great stepping off point in your career as a Software Developer.

• Software development - Using Typescript and React to create components which will be used in applications for both our clients and internally. You will also be developing back-end APIs for these applications to interact with, primarily used NodeJS or C#, depending on project requirements.
• Cloud Services – We write software designed to be deployed and hosted on the cloud. Microsoft Azure is our cloud provider of choice, however we do also make use of services from other cloud providers, such as Twilio Functions or AWS Lambdas, depending on customer or project requirement. A full solution can be made up of several different cloud services, from Web Apps hosting API’s, Service Buses queueing tasks, Functions scheduling tasks, the list goes on. As part of your placement year, you will be involved in using these cloud services to build software that can scale to meet client demands.
• Continuous Integration – We use Git as our source control system and develop CI/CD pipelines using tool such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions to automate our build and deployment processes. You will write unit tests for your code both front and backend, which can run as part of these build pipelines.
• Agile Development – We use Scrum and Agile Development to deliver bespoke solutions around the Twilio Stack for our customers. You will be an active member of the development team, working with colleagues, customers, and partners.

• A passion for software development.
• Have some initial experience with the following technologies for front-end development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks.
• Currently studying for a degree in computer science or a degree which includes computer science modules.
• A desire to learn new technologies, improve existing skills and understand the business impact on the software development lifecycle.

• Optional experience with any of the following front-end technologies would be advantageous but not required: Twilio, TypeScript, React, Vue, Angular.
• Optional experience with any of the following back-end technologies would be advantageous but not required: Node JS, SQL databases, NoSQL databases, C# and .NET Core.

• £23,500 per year salary
